Day 3...Today, woke up @ 6.30am... First thing was to pack my sleeping bag. N then unpitch e tent... By 8am muz go n eat breakfast. Ah... 2day's breakfast was e usual beehoon wif hotdog when one is not in camp... ( there's no meat at all in our rations... Perhaps they spoil easily? ) Back 2 e breakfast... Hmmz, e beehoon nvr tasted so wonderful n filling... Not a bad meal b4 we're 2 set off from OBS camp 1 "Palace"... And there'll not b any pple 2 cook 4 us... After breakfast, we went 2 meet our instructor. We played a game. It was like placing a piece of newspaper on ur chest n trying 2 pass it to another person on e other side without using limbs... It was pretty sucessful n my grp came in first? Haha... Then it was time 2 go n pack our stuff 4 e last time, b4 we left e campsite, wif everything tt we brought along inside, and went to fill up our bottles. I oso used this time 2 go n clear my bowels, cos i dun wanna do it in e wild... ... After all was ready, we 'attached' our life vest onto our bags n went off to meet our instructor for e briefing b4 we set off... There, we chose 2 land ex leader... (hehe... Finally gt a position) 'Cook's land expedition was 'lead' by James n myself... Actually i was more of a nav than a leader.. Lol.. We took our pacing after a quiz for e clues to where our clue was... Manz, an average person's pace is abt 70+. But mine's 78... Abit on e high side... Tt means tt i'll take more steps to cover 100m compared to most ppl... But, nvr mind. It's alrite.. ;) After all is done, wif e plotting of checkpoints done and checking tt all is in our backpack, we're set to go on what would be a 6hr trekking... We took out some oranges and started 2 munch on them, while removing some bulk from our heavy bag... And off we went... In to e forest, toward our first checkpoint, somewhere in e forest... After abt 20 mins of trekking, we arrived @ our first checkpoint. I shld say that it was pretty lucky tt we even found it, coz we actually passed it b4 finding it. But luckily, we stopped at e right spot to ponder over wad to do nxt. And so happened tt we're juz passed it. So, we left our bags there and went in search for e checkpoint qoute... After a while of aimless searching, we managed to find it. Then, i realise tt i forgt to bring along e perment marker... So, accidently shouted out "pernamenament" marker... Cool... Everyone agrees. Here's wad i remembered of e qoute,"we should not look b4 or beyond our control. But things that r within our control." juz love quotes... By e time we almost reach e second checkpoint, it was @ e back of my head... LOST at Thursday, September 15, 2005 |
